Money is a substitute for energy: we use it to purchase electricity, gas, food, labour, etc.

Crypto allows code to possess energy, and autonomously transact, without human intervention. Code can choose other code to transact with, then negotiate and conclude a transaction, autonomously.

Imagine your car continuously improving as it discovered and licensed better “traction control”, or “autonomous driving” algorithms over time, because for these important decisions, markets could emerge.

Crypto gives code a superpower: software that decides its actions in the world is information that decides how to channel energy. Crypto allows for a competitive, living market to form around imporant decisions.

The war for climate will not be won with feckless emissions caps (what a disappointment COP was); it will be through humanity (nerds of every variety) figuring out how to channel energy and information (a lot) better.

Even our dreams of a spacefaring humanity encounter the same fundamental limit: the production and channeling of energy and information.

Crypto is a living substrate, as revolutionary a technology as the semiconductor, internet or Linux kernel; and as necessary for our next evolution.
